How to Rock the Boho Style

The boho style is a modern bohemian clothing style that has taken not only the celebrity world, but also the streets by storm. The look captures the simple and flowy style of gypsies and hippies of their eras. It has a fashionable mix of several ethnic inspired styles taken such as African and Indian designs. Getting the right look is easy and inexpensive, with a variety of sources to get them, including thrifts stores, vintage shops, and online retail stores.

Here are a few tips to follow that can help you achieve the boho style:

• Shop for vintage boho style clothing particularly from the 70s. Look for peasant blouses, maxi skirts, and other fashion pieces from that era. You can find these items from second hand stores and state auctions. For more modern creations, visit specialty shops or online stores.

• Search for bold patterns like colorful clothing in many parts of Africa and India. Pair these clothing pieces with others with the same style of patterns without giving much regard to whether they clash or match.

• Embellish the plainer and boho style clothing pieces with designs materials such as beads and fringe. You can also use spangles and rhinestones to give a simple boho item a richer look.

• Layering is key, so try doing it with your boho clothing finds. Try wearing two tops and a scarf paired with a short skirt over pants, leggings, or any layer combination you can think of. Keep all the layers loose-fitting and make sure they look good on you.

• Shop for vintage accessories or modern accessories with vintage designs. Put on a lot of bangles for the gypsy inspired look. You can also layer many long, thin, and ornate necklaces to get the same effect.

• Wear rhinestone encrusted footwear, or embellish a pair of flip-flops to give you a casual, yet gypsy-style look. You can wear toe rings with those rhinestone encrusted flip-flops to get a similar gypsy effect.

• For a casual weekend or party, put on a pair of slouchy jeans and roll them up a few inches from the bottom. Wear a patterned tunic top or an oversized tee with a vest over it or a big sweater. If skirts are your thing, go for a voluminous one that has length just right above your knee, or go maxi that almost touches the floor. Top it off with a fitted tank and a faded denim jacket with studded embellishments.
